Trademark certificate is valid for 10 yeas of date of the application. This period may be prolonged sequentially for ten yeas for an unlimited number of times. A related state fee is paid for the prolongation.

1. A mandate letter for filing an application containing the following information:
   • Name of Applicant according to Articles of Association;
   • Applicant’s legal address;
   • Applicant’s address for correspondence;
   • a list of goods and services applied for trademark.
2. Trademark image in 12 copies, size 8 x 8 cm (photo, printed image or a computer file in JPG, TIFF, CDR formats);
3. Power of attorney (please link to a power of attorney form);*
4. For convention priority applications: a certified copy of a priority document;**
5. For exhibition priority applications: a document confirming participation in the exhibition;**

* Documents set forth in paragraph 3 may be submitted later, within 2 moths of the date of application.

** Documents set forth in paragraphs 4, 5 may be submitted later, within 3 moths of the date of application.

Generally, registration of a trademark in Ukrainian Patent Office takes 1.5 - 2 years.

If an express examination request is filed the registration can take 6 to 8 months. In case of international application according to Madrid Agreement and/or Madrid Protocol procedures it is possible to hold the express examination within 2-3 months. If the express examination is ordered, than, in addition to state fees, it is necessary to pay for services of Patent Office according to tariffs in force.

According to Ukrainian legislation, the Applicant may be both a legal entity and a physical person. Beside that, several physical the legal persons may become applicants.

The rights for a registered trademark come into force form the date of filing the application.
